IN A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND ON EASTERN COAST OFINDIA, THE COAST GUARD EASTERN REGION, DEPLOYED ALL WOMENOFFICERS CREW IN A FIXED-WING AIRCRAFT DORNIER FORUNDERTAKING MARITIME PATROLLING AND TO CHECK ILLEGALACTIVITIES AT SEAS, ESPECIALLY NEAR INTERNATIONAL MARITIMEBOUNDARY LINE.2. DY COMMANDANTS AKSHI, SUNITA (PILOTS) AND PRIYANKA TYAGI(OBSERVER) FROM 744 SQN(CG) COAST GUARD AIR STATION CHENNAIHAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED MARITIME RECONNAISSANCEDORNIER SORTIE OVER HIGH SEAS. ALL LADY OFFICERS HAVE BEENCONTINUOUSLY TRAINED FOR REAL TIME OPERATIONS WHICH INCLUDEPOLLUTION RESPONSE, MARITIME RECONNAISSANCE, SEARCH ANDRESCUE, ANTI-PIRACY AND ANTI-POACHING MISSIONS. 3. DY COMDT AKSHI JOINED INDIAN COAST GUARD AIR STATIONCHENNAI IN JUN 2014 AND HAS 1700 HOURS OF FLYING EXPERIENCE.DY COMDT PRIYANKA TYAGI WHO BECAME PART OF COAST GUARDSTATION CHENNAI IN FEB 14 IS HAVING 1500 HOURS OF FLYINGEXPERIENCE. DY COMDT SUNITA JOINED THIS PREMIER SQN IN AUG 11AND IS HAVING 1200 HOURS OF EXPERIENCE. SHE HAS BEEN A ROLEMODEL FOR SEVERAL WOMEN IN TERMS OF ACHIEVEMENT ANDCONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIELD OF MARITIME FLYING.
