Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda on Wednesday announced the decision to extend support to the SAD-BJP alliance in the Punjab Assembly polls on February 4.
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has its presence in 27 different of Malwa region of Punjab.Dera has about 5 crore supporters of which 50 lakh are in Punjab and Haryana. and has fifty percent eligible to vote.
Campaigning for assembly elections in Punjab and Goa ended yesterday evening. The two states will go to polls tomorrow to elect new assemblies.
Goa, the election authorities are gearing up to conduct free and fair polling to the 40 member assembly. AIR correspondent reports that more than 1600 polling stations have been set up for the smooth conduct of elections.
Goa has about 11.10 lakh voters are going to decide, the fate of 251 candidates including 19 women. About 32 thousand young voters will be exercising their franchise for the first time. Women voters out number men this time. 40 all-women managed polling stations have been set up to motivate women’s participation in the electoral process.The commission has made a directory of about 2700 Persons with Disabilities who will be given pick up facility from home.
Meanwhile about 1.7 crore rupees and more than 70 thousand liters of liquor have been seized, till date by the Election Commission appointed police and excise teams.
Voting for all 117 seats in Punjab and that of 40 in Goa will begin at 7 AM tomorrow. By-poll to Amritsar Lok Sabha seat in Punjab will also be held tomorrow.
