India have won against Srilanka by nine wickets in the first of the five- match ODI series in Dambulla. The visitors achieved the victory target of 217 runs in just 28.5 overs. A blistering knock of unbeaten 128 by Shikhar Dhawan and 82 not out by skipper Virat Kohli wrapped up the match hurriedly.
Earlier, India, opting to bowl first, bundled out Sri Lanka for 216 in 43.2 overs. Opener Niroshan Dickwella top scored for the hosts with his 64-run knock while Angelo Mathews remained not out on 36. For India left-arm spinner Axar Patel took three wickets. Kedar Jadhav, Y Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah captured two wickets each.
