South Korea’s presidential office says President Moon Jae-in will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of APEC meetings in November.
It will be their first meeting since Xi started his second term. The two last met in July.
The summit will be closely watched for signs of improvements in ties, soured over the deployment of the US THAAD missile defense system in South Korea.
The two leaders are expected to discuss how to respond to North Korea’s nuclear and missile development as well as the THAAD deployment.
China has protested against the deployment, saying its troops could be monitored by the system’s high-spec radars.
Senior officials from both sides have reportedly agreed that military officials will discuss China’s concerns. The presidential office said they have also decided to quickly resume bilateral exchanges.
