Bahujan Samaj Party, BSP Chief Mayawati has accused Congress for not materialising poll alliance between both the parties in Himachal Pradesh and Gujrat Assembly polls.
In a statement issued at Lucknow after addressing her party leaders she has said that the Congress did not approve sharing 25 seats in Gujarat and 10 in Himachal Pradesh, which it had lost in the previous polls.
She said that senior BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra had held detailed talks with Congress leader Ahmed Patel on the issue but it did not resulted.
Favouring joining hands with secular parties to check communal parties in Lok Sabha and State Assembly polls, Mayawati has said that it will happen only if her party is given a respectable share of seats.
She has said that contesting in alliance had not benefitted her party in the past.
BSP Chief has sharply criticised the ruling BJP for following unethical tactics and the misuse of official machinery in the urban local bodies elections in the State.
She has alleged the BJP for trying to tarnish the image of opposition leaders instead of working for the people. She has termed BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ or manifesto for the urban local elections as an eyewash.
Media reports from Lucknow that this is the first time that the BSP is contesting the Urban Local Bodies elections on its party symbol. She has also made it clear that any party men entering the fray as independents in on going Local Bodies polls will be expelled.
