President Donald Trump said he’s just days away from delivering on a promise to provide “a massive tax cut for the everyday, working Americans who are the backbone and heartbeat of our country.” Lower taxes could go into effect as early as February, Trump said on Wednesday. Several middle-income families joined the president in the grand foyer of the White House to promote the reform. The agreement reached by House and Senate Republicans paves the way for final votes next week.
The House and Senate leadership have struck a deal on the tax reform bill, US President Donald Trump told reporters Wednesday. “We’re very close to getting it done,” he said, meeting at the White House with Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Representative Kevin Brady (R-Texas), who were leading the efforts to sort out the differences between the two chambers’ versions of the bill. Trump said he was hoping for a vote on the measure next week, before Congress goes on Christmas recess.
