Remembering Asma Jahangir

Asma Jilani Jahangir, one of the most prominent names from the peace movement in South Asia, passed away on the 11th February, in Lahore, Pakistan. She was an important rights activist, lawyer, feminist, thinker and author. Winner of the alternate Nobel Prize, the Right to Livelihood Award and a former UN Special Rapporteur, Asma was co-founder of many South Asia level peoples’ platforms. Regional and international media is filled with news, columns and commentaries about her since Sunday, when the devastating news hit the world.
A gathering of people whose lives she touched are organising a gathering to commemorate Asma’s indomitable spirit and life. Please join us on Thursday, February 15 2018 at 6pm, India Habitat Centre (Amphitheatre), New Delhi, for an evening of thoughts, poetry and songs. Known names from the peace movements, rights activists, policy makers, lawyers, journalists, etc are expected to participate in the programme. Adv. Indira Jaisingh, Kuldip Nayar, Kamla Bhasin, Dr. Syeda Hameed, Tapan K Bose, Seema Mustafa, Miloon Kothari, Adv. Vrinda Grover, Jyoti Malhotra, Moonis Ijlal, Mariam Faruqi and many other prominent citizens are expected to share their journey with Asma.
