Speaker: Amid uproar rejects, No confidence motion

The no-confidence notices were moved by YSR Congress member Y V Subba Reddy and TDP’s Thota Narasimham.

The Lower House proceedings were washed out for the 10th consecutive day following incessant protests and sloganeering by various parties, including TDP, YSR Congress, AIADMK and RJD over multiple issues, including special status for Andhra Pradesh and banking scam.

Congress members were also seen standing at their seats.

Amidst uproar, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan informed the House about no confidence motion moved by YSR Congress and TDP saying that she cannot further proceed on it as the House is not in order. Later, she adjourned the House for the day.
Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned, the Lok Sabha for the day and the Rajya Sabha till 2.30 following continuous opposition uproar on different issues.

Earlier in the morning, members from TDP and YSR Congress continued their protest for special status to Andhra Pradesh. Amid noisy scenes, three newly elected MPs from UP and Bihar took oath of office. TRS was raising the demand for increase in the reservation quota in government jobs in Telangana while AIADMK MPs were pressing for setting up of Cauvery Management Board.

They are Sarfaraz Alam of RJD from Araria and Samajwadi Party’s Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel from Phulpur and Praveen Kumar Nishad from Gorakhpur.

In the Rajya Sabha, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu expressed serious concern over the repeated disturbances faced by the House for the last two weeks failing to transact any business.

He said people are disillusioned over the logjam as important issues like banks scams are not being taken up for discussion. He appealed to all parties to ensure the smooth functioning.

As noisy scenes continued, Mr. Naidu adjourned the house till 2.30 pm.
