Veer Khatkar and Srihari Nataraj rule the pool, 6 new Records on Day 4

The last individual event of the day saw Veer Khatkar along with club mates from the SAI Glenmark TIDM programme in Delhi Aryan Vernekar and Gyan Sandhan Kashyap execute a sweep in the 100 m Freestyle Boys Group II. Veer who had broken the National record during the heats returned to set a new record in the final clocking a time of 00:53.69. Aryan Varnekar representing SFI won his second medal of the day a silver with a time of 00:54.50 while Assam’s Gyan Sandhan Kashyap won bronze with a time of 00:55.40

 

Srihari Nataraj claimed the treble and created an aura of invincibility around him by winning the 200 m backstroke Boys Group I with a time of02:03.17 he not only broke his own National record but established the best time by an Indian ever in the the event. Srihari was challenged only by the clock and led from start to finish. Xavier Dsouza of Goa who trains at the Glenmark Aquatic foundation Mumbai won silver with a time of 02:07.81 while Xavier’s club bate Aryan Bhosale from SFI claimed bronze with a time of 02:08.88.

 

Clubmates and training partners at the SAI Glenmark TIDM programme Delhi  Aryan Vernekar of SFI and Bikram Changmai of Assam fought tooth and nail in the 50 m butterfly BoysGroup II. Both broke the existing National record with  Aryan winning gold and setting a new national record with a time of 00:26.13. Bikram won silver with a better meet record of 00:26.44. Rajdeep Gogoi the talented Assam swimmer won bronze with a time of 00:27.04

 

Aaryan Nehra of Gujarat established his supremacy in long distance swimming events by winning the 1500 m Freestyle in Boys Group II by breaking his own national record established last year by over 15 seconds. Nehra clocked 16:33.27 to win gold while Kapil Shetty of Karnataka won the silver with a time of 17:02.31 followed by Hriday Santosh of Chhattisgarh with a time of 17:13.07

 

The story of the first race repeated itself in the second race the 400 m Individual Medley for Boys Group I when Advait Page of Madhya Pradesh broke his own national record set last year by nearly 7 seconds to win gold  clocking a time of 04:34.76. Yash Varma of Delhi won silver with a time of 04:45.42 while Sanskar Tokas of Delhi won the bronze with a time of 04:46.56

 

The 4 X 100 m Medley relay saw a neck to neck battle between Karnataka and SFI with Karnataka beating SFI with the narrowest margins to win gold with a time of 04:37.34 while SFI won silver with a time of 04:37.96 Karnataka established a new meet record while SFI bettered the existing record. Haryana won bronze with a time of 04:47.73

 

The last event of the day 4 X 100 m Medley Girls Group II  was a replica of the

4 X 100 m Medley relay Girls Group I with team Karnataka and team SFI going neck to neck. This time team SFI beat Karnataka to win gold with a time of 04:39.26 establishing a new National record in the process. Team Karnataka also bettered the existing mark to win silver with a time of 04:40.03 while Kerala claimed bronze with a time of 04:56.63

 

 

The most awaited race of the day was the 100 m Freestyle Girls Group I which saw Rayna Saldanha who trains at GAF Mumbai of SFI claim her first gold breaking the one minute barrier to win gold with a time of 00:59.69. Kenisha Gupta representing SFI swum a splendid race but could not upstage teammate Rayna and picked silver with a time of 01:00.00. Annie Jain won her second medal of her day winning the bronze with a time of 01:00.65.

 

Firdoush Kayamkhani who hails from Rajasthan and trains at the SAI Glenmark TIDM programme in Delhi retained the 400 m Individual Medley clocking a time of 05:22.51. The promising swimmer from Goa Shrungi Bandekar won silver with a time of 05:26.63. Saachi G of Karnataka won bronze with a time of 05:30.70

 

Apeksha Fernandes representing SFI used her prime form to win the gold in the 200 m Butterfly Girls Group II with a time of 02:29.09. She swum an extremely composed second half to pip the early leader Anvesha Girish of Karnataka who won silver with a time of 02:29.48 while B Shakthi won the bronze with a time of 02:29.76

 

The Boys Group II backstroke saw Akashdeep Singh of Punjab lead from start to finish to win the gold with a time of 02:12.09. Sahil Lashkar who tried his best to thwart Akashdeep finished second with a time of  02:15.31 while Y Jaswanth Reddy won bronze with a time of  02:18.86

 

Viddith Shankar  of Karnataka swum an extremely fast breast stroke leg which enabled him to thwart a late challenge from teammate H Nithik to win the 200 m Individual Medley Boys Group III with a time of 02:27.67 while Nithik clocked 02:28.66. Sayan Bhowmik of Bengal won bronze with a time of 02:34.57

 

Cynthia Choudhury of  Bengal  swum an amazing last 10 meters to beat Race leader and top seed Lavleen Das of Assam  in a photo finish in the 200 m Individual Medley Girls Group III. Cynthia clocked 02:41.42 to win gold while Lavleen clocked 02:41.74 to win silver. In a surprise Sanjana Prabhugaonkar of Goa swimming in lane 1 quietly claimed bronze with a time of 02:43.97

 

Lohith M of established his class in the breaststroke events  completing the treble by winning the 50 m breaststroke  in a time of 00:30.91. Jagan Nathan of Kerala won silver with a time of 00:31.19 while  Aditya Dubey who represents Delhi and trains at the SAI Glenmark TIDM programme claimed the bronze with  time of 00:31.48

 

Sharon Shaju  of SFI added the 50 m breaststroke Girls Group I gold to her kitty winning the  100 m Breaststroke earlier during the meet. Sharon pushed  top seed Annie jain of Madhya Pradesh to silver by clocking 00:34.73 to win gold. Annie clocked 00:34.99 while Aaliyah Singh from Uttar Pradesh won bronze with a time of 00:35.20

 

Ansu Kar from Bengal failed to complete a golden treble but the gold went to Bengal through Pranjal Patra who swum an outstanding home stretch to be crowned the fastest swimmer in the Boys Group III by winning the 50 m Freestyle with a time of 00:27.83. Mohd Rehan Mirza yesterday’s record breaker  from Assam who was pipped at the last minute won silver with a time of 00:27.96. Ansu Kar won bronze with a time 00:28.00

 

Jahnabi Kashyap the young swimming sensation from Assam was crowned the fastest swimmer in the girls group III as she won gold in the 50 m freestyle with a time of 00:30.36. Top seed Sanjana Pala of Bengal won silver with a time of 00:30.51 while Jasnoor Kaur of Punjab won bronze with a time of 00:30.63 The race was a virtual dead heat with the top swimmers separated by a hair’s breadth

 

 

Vedika Amin of SFI swum an absolutely stunning race to win the 100 m Freestyle Girls Group II with a time of 01:00.05. Adithi Balaji of Tamil Nadu won the silver with a time of 01:01.84 while Keziah Catherine John of Kerala won bronze with a time of 01:02.11

 

Neel Roy showed his class by winning the 100 m Freestyle Boys Group I with a comfortable margin  clocking a time of 00:52.34  Tanish George Matthew representing Karnataka won silver with a time of 00:53.13 pipping teammate Sanjay CJ who claimed bronze with a time of 00:53.71

 

The first relay of the evening  saw Karnataka establishing their dominance in the 4X50 m Freestyle relay Boys Group IV winning gold with a time of 02:06.11. Team Assam won silver with a time of 02:09.01 while team SFI won bronze with a time of 02:10.92

 

The second relay of the evening saw the Assam team win the 4 X 50 m Freestyle Girls Group IV with a time of 02:12.22 while Karnataka won silver with a time of 02:12.33 while Tamil Nadu won bronze with a time of 02:13.66

 

 

 

The first relay of the morning day saw  team SFI win gold in the 4 X 200 m Freestyle with a time of  09:22.49 while Karnataka won the silver with a time of 09:28.87 while Tamil Nadu won the bronze with a time of 09:38.08

 

Team Karnataka swum an extremely professional race to win gold in the 4 X 200 m Freestyle relay Girls Group I with a time of 09:18.34. Team SFI won silver with a time of 09:28.63 while Tamil Nadu won bronze with a time of 09:35.66.
