North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has stressed friendship with China at an event held by the two countries in Pyongyang.
Korean Central Television reported that Kim attended a joint performance by artists from North Korea and China on Saturday.
The event came amid stalled US-North Korea talks over the North’s denuclearization.
During the performance, a screen showed past leaders from both sides shaking hands with each other, including Kim Il Sung and Deng Xiaoping, and Kim Jong Il and Hu Jintao.
Kim later said his country and China have a traditional, cordial relationship that has overcome all kinds of difficulties.
Kim added he is sure relations will further develop toward a bright future, and expressed his gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The two countries have recently been restoring ties. Kim has made three visits to China this year
