IT IS SEALING EMERGENCY IN DELHI

CAIT ASK HOME MINISTER TO BRING ORDNANCE

In the backdrop scenario of sealing and it’s fear and harassment, the Confederation of All India (CAIT ) today asked Home Minister Rajnath Singh to bring an Ordinance to stop sealing in Delhi or categorically declare that Central Govt is not bringing any Ordinance to clear the Air. Since Parliament is now not in session, the Govt is fully empowered to bring an Ordinance.- added CAIT.  Because of dictatorial attitude of Monitoring Committee which is not following any due process of law , it is an emergency like situation in Delhi for Traders and therefore warranted immediate intervention of Union Govt to restore democracy and bringing an Ordinance.

CAIT Secretary General Mr Praveen Khandelwal in a communication sent to Home Minister said that Delhi Government has failed to protect Delhi traders from sealing and inspite of continuous demand, no action has been taken by Delhi Govt to stop sealing in Delhi. Therefore, all hopes of traders are now cantered towards Union Govt to come for their rescue from this critical issue.

In its communication, the CAIT has said that the Monitoring Committee is working in a most autocratic way throwing away all rights of traders and setting their own rules under the garb of Supreme Court order though MCD Act, 1957 is law of the land having all procedures for any penal action. But the Monitoring Committee is giving deaf ears to prescribed law.

Mr Khandelwal further said that shops which have been sealed by over more than 6 months are almost at verge to collapse as it is becoming difficult for the victim traders to feed their own family as also feeding families of their employees and dependent’s . If situation continues virtually a stage of starvation will occur. The Monitoring Committee has formulated a complex procedure for de-sealing of eligible shops with mandatory deposition fee of Rs One lakh alongwith de-sealing application . Because of sealing the traders are facing financial constraints which does not allow them to pay fee of Rs One lakh.

Under the circumstances, the Home Minister now should intervene and bring an Ordinance to protect traders. The CAIT has also sent similar communication to Union Urban Development Minister Shri Hardeep Puri.
