Six terrorists killed in encounter at Batgund village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district today
Jammu and Kashmir, six terrorists have been killed and an Army jawan martyred in an encounter in Shopian district. J&K Police on Shopian encounter informed that 6 killed terrorists been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Abass Bhatt, Umar Majeed Ganaie, Mohd Waseem Wagay, Khalid Farooq Mali and one terrorist is learnt to be a foreigner from Pakistan: J&K Police
A Defence spokesman said, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Batgund village late last night, on the basis of specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the forces zeroed-in, the terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight. While six terrorists were killed, an Army jawan was injured. He, later, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. 6 terrorists neutralised&bodies were retrieved from site of encounter. Their identities&affiliations are being ascertained. Few individuals sustained injuries at encounter site & have been evacuated to hospital for medical.
Youngst Protesters pelt stones on the vehicles of security forces in Shopian following the encounter in Kapran Batagund area which concluded earlier today. 6 terrorists were neutralised and one Army jawan died in action.reports ANI
The operation has concluded and the identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained.
