“Conference on EU-India Partnership for Cultural Heritage Conservation”

We are delighted to invite you for a two-day “Conference on EU-India Partnership for Cultural Heritage Conservation” taking place on and 5 December 2018 at the National Museum Auditorium, Janpath, New Delhi.

This Conference is to mark the pinnacle of the year 2018, which has been designated as theEuropean Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH) by the European Commission and the European Parliament. Its aim is to encourage more people to discover and engage with Europe’s and their own cultural heritage, and to reinforce the sense of belonging through common history, values and culture. In line with this vision, the Delegation of the European Union to India and the National Museum Institute will convene 18 Indian and 18 European experts in wide array of disciplines coming under the umbrella of cultural heritage conservation, to discuss past achievements and present challenges, explore future prospects, and thus ultimately contribute to enhancing EU-India collaboration in the field of cultural heritage conservation.

The purpose of this Conference is threefold:

  1.      Present ongoing cooperations realised in partnership between India and the EU/its Member States aimed at tapping the potential of cultural heritage as an engine for social and economic development, and bringing aboutsustainable solutions for urban heritage sites.
  2.      Showcase the latest cutting-edge technologies and techniquesemployed in observing, surveying, or mapping cultural heritage sites, as well as the models and innovative solutions for digitisation and archiving.

                   III.     Inform about and promote research grants and scholarship facilities available for Indian researchers, graduates and undergraduates in all fields relevant to cultural heritage conservation.
