The newly-elected lawmakers to the Bangladesh parliament will be sworn in on 3 January. Parliament Secretariat informed the press this morning that the oath-taking ceremony will be held in the Jatiya Sangsad on that day

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League and its allies won the general elections on Sunday, bagging 288 of the total 299 seats which went to the polls.
Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) of jailed ex-premier Khaleda Zia which won five seats in the 300-member Parliament has rejected the poll outcome as farcical and demanded a fresh election.
