In Iran, at least 75 people were injured in a 5.9 magnitude earthquake that shook Gilangharb city in Kermanshah province yesterday. According to Iran’s Seismological Centre, at least 15 aftershocks, ranging from 3 to 4.8 magnitude, have shaken the region so far. The elementary schools and high schools will remain closed in Gilangharb city today.

Further reports of quake is awaited
An earthquake hit an area in western Iran near the Iraqi border on Sunday, injuring about 31 people, most of them lightly, the state news agency IRNA reported.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) initially put the magnitude of the quake at 5.9 but revised this later to 5.5.
Iran’s emergency services spokesman Mojtaba Khaledi told IRNA that 29 of the injured had been released after treatment following the earthquake in Gilan Gharb in Kermanshah province.
