Moderate to heavy snow or rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and scattered rain in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and northern Rajasthan and western Uttar Pradesh.
As north India continues to receive persistent western disturbances (WD) one after the other, moderate to heavy snow and rain is expected to continue in the region this week. The WDs are often associated with rain and snow especially during the winters. The unusually high number of WDs this year has already resulted in unprecedented amounts of snow and rain across north India.
A fresh WD which is currently over Pakistan is expected to induce moderate to heavy snow especially over higher altitude regions in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Moderate to heavy rain is also likely over these states.
The Weather Channel Met team has forecast the likelihood of scattered rain over Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, northern Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are possible across north India on Monday. An additional 15-20 cm, locally more than 50 cm of snowfall accumulation is expected in 12 hours.
