Manmohan Singh slams govt over state of economy and Institution

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today criticised the NDA government over the current economic situation in the country saying the state of the economy is worrying.  Former PM Man Mohan S said . Mr. Modi put aside his ego and heed the “Wise Economist’s” advice in national interest.

Our economy has not recovered from the man made blunders of demonetisation & a hastily implemented GST… I urge the govt to put aside vendetta politics & reach out to all sane voices to steer our economy out of this crisis: Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh. Modi government has eroded autonomy of major institution.

He said, the last quarter’s GDP growth rate of five per cent signals that India is in the midst of a prolonged slowdown. 

In a statement, Dr. Singh said, the country’s youth, farmers and farmworkers, entrepreneurs and the marginalized sections deserve better. 

Meanwhile, BJP has hit back at Dr. Singh alleging that the country’s economy is still facing difficulties due to his government’s wrong policies. 

Talking to official media , party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said, the economic situation across the world is not good but India is in a better position as compared to other countries on economic front. He said, Narendra Modi government has taken several measures to boost the economy.

Special Protection Group (SPG) protection given to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has been withdrawn following a review by multiple security agencies. 

The officials said, Dr Singh will continue to get Z plus security. The former Prime Minister’s Z plus security cover, one of the highest, will be given by one of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), preferably the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The government’s decision had been conveyed to Dr Singh, who was Prime Minister from 2004 and 2014. A Home Ministry official said, the current security cover review is a periodical and professional exercise based on threat perception that is purely based on professional assessment by security agencies.
