Rights & freedom of Hong Kong’s residents should be protected: Angela Merkel
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said that the rights and freedom of Hong Kong’s residents should be protected. She said that a solution to the political crisis can only be garnered through a dialogue.
Merkel met with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang after arriving in Beijing today. She will meet China President Xi Jinping in the evening. Addressing a joint news briefing today, Merkel said, she indicated during the talks that the rights and freedoms agreed upon in Hong Kong’s basic law should be safeguarded. Merkel added that political dialogue, not violence, is the path toward a resolution.
