First metro coach manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers in Mumbai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged people of Maharashtra to stop plastic from entering into the sea during the immersion of Ganesh idols.
He said this while we bid adieu to our beloved Ganpati, a lot of plastic and other waste goes into our sea and this time we should try that these pollutants do not carry into our water bodies. PM also said that the government has planned to spend 100 lakh crore rupees in the next five years to create better infrastructure in-country and assured that Mumbai and Maharashtra will get larger share of it.
The Prime Minister was speaking in Mumbai where he inaugurated a slew of new projects. Prime Minister laid the foundation stones for three Metro corridors worth over 19,000 crore rupees. The three corridors, namely Gaimukh-Shivaji Chowk; Wadala-CST and Kalyan-Taloja are together expected to carry more than 40 lakh commuters daily.
He also performed Bhoomi poojan of the 32-storey Metro Bhavan, which will serve as the integrated operations and control centre for all the proposed 14 metro lines in and around Mumbai. Mr. Modi inaugurated the first metro coach manufactured by the state-run Bharat Earth Movers in flat 75 days. Over 500 of these coaches will be used for Mumbai Metro’s soon to be completed corridors.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Bandongri metro station on the Andheri-Dahisar Metro-7. The metro station is equipped with Energy-efficient elevators, escalator and LED fittings with the use of solar energy. The Prime Minister also visited the Lokmanya Seva Sangh at Vile Parle and offered his prayers at the on-going Ganpati pooja at the venue. Lok Manya Seva Sangh is a social service and cultural organisation which is 96 years old and based on ideals and inspirations from Lokmanya Tilak.
From Mumbai, the Prime Minister will proceed to Aurangabad, where he will dedicate the first phase of Aurangabad Industrial City -AURIC developed under the Delhi -Mumbai Industrial Corridor at Shendra Industrial area. He will also address a gathering of women self-help groups in Aurangabad.
