A small cargo vessel called Hira Parbat-8 carrying 1,100 tonnes of coal sunk due to bad weather in the Bay of Bengal in the morning today. All the 12 crew members of the ship are missing.
The incident occurred near the Sagu Gas Field in Chattogram. Executive Director of Water Transport Cell of the port Mahbub Rashid said that the Coast Guard and Navy are carrying out a search operation in the area.
The vessel was on its way to Dhaka after loading coal from a mother vessel from the outer anchorage of the port at Chattogram.
