“BhashaAnuvad” Translation Competition

Dear Mr Sagar,

We are delighted to inform you that, FICCI in association with Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) had organized the curtain-raiser of the next edition of Bhashantara on 24th October 2019 at Federation House, New Delhi. Bhahsantara is the annual symposium for the Indic Language Technology Industry to discuss and engage on matters of language localization technologies, digital Indic content development and overall development of the ecosystem.

With the internet and smartphone revolution in India and rising aspiration among the masses, India’s internet is about to spiral into one of the largest segments in the world. But there is less than 1% content available on Indian languages on the web. This has hindered the growth of technologies in Indian languages and also have made internet inaccessible for millions of Indic languages speaking citizens. Understanding this reality, FICCI-ILIA has launched the “BhashaAnuvad” – A technology-based Translation Competition at the curtain-raiser ceremony of Bhashantara. The competition is being organized with the spirit for the development and expansion of the Indic Internet and Language Technology industry of India.

We know that the end goal is huge and very large. But the objective of the competition is to utilize the available translation tools and platforms of the Indic Language Technology industry for the translation of content available on public domains and contribute towards the generation of Indic content on web.

The Translation competition is open from 24th October 12:00 noon onwards to 10th November 2019 11:59 PM to the general public to achieve maximum participation. The aim is to contribute as many Indic words as possible on the web through this crowd-sourced manner. Every participant will be contributing towards making the Indic internet.

The winners of the “BhashaAnuvad” Translation Competition will befelicitated at the main Bhshantara symposium to be held on 18th November 2019 at Federation House, New Delhi.

I request you to actively participate in the competition, and spread words about the competition amongst your peers for maximum participation to make it great success
