Rains to lash in South India

The Northeast Monsoon will bring isolated to widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms over Southern India for the next five days.

A cyclonic circulation and related low pressure will form about 400km southwest of Cape Comorin over southeast Arabian Sea on Saturday 30th. The low will move northwestward over Lakshadweep on Sunday and Monday.

Subsequently, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala on Saturday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep on Sunday.

24-hour precipitation accumulation of 100mm is possible over Tamil Nadu on Saturday. 48-hour precipitation accumulation of 75mm to 120mm is likely over Tamil Nadu on Saturday and Sunday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep on Monday. There is no threat of heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Another cyclonic circulation and related low pressure system will form over Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southwest Arabian Sea on Saturday and the low pressure is forecast to move westward.

A cyclonic circulation is over Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday and brings isolated snow or rain over Arunachal Pradesh until Tuesday.

Max temperatures are lower than average over Northern, North Western and North Central India in this forecast period. Max temperatures over Southern, Eastern and North Eastern India are near average or slightly higher than average during the next five days.

Min temperatures are higher than average over Western, Southern Central, Eastern and North Eastern India in the same time period.

Saturday – Nationwide Rain Forecast

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Isolated rain is possible over Arunachal Pradesh and Karnataka.

Dry weather is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

Sunday – Nationwide Rain Forecast

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms have been forecast over Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Isolated rain is possible over Arunachal Pradesh and Karnataka.

Dry weather is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.
