Sikh devotees trapped as mob attacks Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan.

An angry mob of Nankana residents pelted stones on Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan and threatened to destroy it. Several Sikh devotees inside on 3 Jan 2020.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Gobind Singh Longowal on mob attacked Nankana Sahib yesterday: We are sending a four member delegation to Pakistan which will meet senior officials and the province’s Governor over this issue.

The protesters, raising slogans against Pakistan, were stopped near Chanakyapuri police station today. Akali Dal and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee lead by @mssirsa protests against Pakistan over the mob attack on Nankana Sahib yesterday.

The violent mob that had gathered outside Nankana Sahib Gurdwara has dispersed after police released Ehsaan, the man who had allegedly abducted a Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, daughter of the Gurdwara‘s panthi. Reports ANI

@capt_amarinder·Appeal to @ImranKhanPTI to immediately intervene to ensure that the devotees stranded in Gurdwara Nankana Sahib are rescued and the historic Gurdwara is saved from the angry mob surrounding it.

BJP has condemned the attack on Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Lahore, Pakistan, saying minorities are not safe in Pakistan.

The party said such incidents prove that the Citizenship Amendment Act brought by the NDA government is in the right direction to provide relief to religiously persecuted people in neighbouring countries like Pakistan. 

Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said, there have been consistent acts of violence on religious places and on minorities in Pakistan. 

She said people who are opposing CAA should now understand the importance of this legislation after this attack.

She demanded that the Pakistan government must protect the lives, dignity and basic human rights of the Sikhs without failure.

Earlier, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also condemned the mob attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan. In a tweet, Mr Gandhi termed the attack as reprehensible and said the only known antidote to bigotry is love, mutual respect and understanding.

Meanwhile, workers of BJP and Congress held protests separately near the Pakistan Embassy in New Delhi against the attack on Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Lahore.
