Arab League Chief calls for Iraq calm

On situation in Iraq and Iran, words of wisdom spring, “More disturbances would increase foreign pressures and further complicate the situation,” said Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, expressing his concerns over violence in Iraq

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Sunday expressed his concern over developments in Iraq and Arab region and called for calm.

In a statement, he said the region is currently in a dire need of calm, not escalation and extinguishing conflicts, not igniting and perpetuating them.

The Arab League is a union of Arab-speaking African and Asian countries. It has 22 members and four observer States.
