Authorities call on Stockholmers not to travel at Easter as coronavirus death toll increases
Sweden now has over 4,000 confirmed cases of covid-19 and 146 of those who have contracted the coronavirus have died, a rise of 36 fatalities since Sunday.
“It may look like a big leap, but it is because it has been a weekend when cases have not been registered,” said state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell on Monday.
Among the 146 people who have died, almost half are aged 80 to 90 years old, according to statistics from the public health agency. (last updated: 30/3 14.00).
Taha Alexandersson, at the National Board of Health and Welfare, said regional health authorities had reorganised and were in a stronger position to handle the crisis situation, but said it was vital that Stockholmers did not travel out of the region over the Easter holiday break.
