5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

Moisture-laden southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal and northwesterly winds from inland converge over Odisha and the adjoining areas will create unstable conditions over Eastern India. Moderate to heavy rain, with some intense and active thundershowers are likely over Eastern India on Tuesday.

A cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh will bring moist air to Northeastern India. Thunderstorm activities are expected to persist over Northeastern India, engulfing Ganga plains, during this forecast period. There is a probability of hailstorms and wind gusts in these areas.

The heaviest rainfall through the next five days will be over northern Odisha, southern West Bengal, Meghalaya, and N.M.M.T, with totals over 50 mm common, possibly reaching 100 mm locally.

Meanwhile, a trough extending from Madhya Pradesh down to southern Karnataka will trigger thundershowers along the region on Tuesday.

Kerala and the adjoining areas will receive persistent thundershowers due to onshore winds during this forecast period.

The next Western Disturbance will affect mainly Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir on Friday and Saturday.

Maximum temperatures will be 4°C to 8°C or less lower than normal across the Gangetic Plain this week. On the other hand, minimum temperatures will be 2°C to 8°C warmer than normal across Rajasthan and the adjoining areas this week.

The areas with max temperatures of over 40°C are expected to expand from Rajasthan and Gujarat to southeastward beyond Thursday.

Tuesday

Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Odisha, West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Kerala.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Scattered rain/snow and thunderstorms are possible over Arunachal Pradesh.

Isolated rain/snow and thunderstorms are likely over Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim. Isolated rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Goa.

Max temperatures of 40°C or more are possible at some places in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.

Wednesday

Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Scattered rain/snow and thunderstorms likely over Arunachal Pradesh.

Isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Goa. Isolated rain/snow and thunderstorms are likely over Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim.

Max temperatures of 40°C or more are expected at some place in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
