31 lakh migranrs in various states Punjab Harayan Mahrasthra and Southern Indian states from Kerala, stranded reach native home state UP Bihar by Shramik special trains
India Railway has crossed the milestone of transporting more than 31 lakh passengers to their home states through Shramik Special trains.
A total of two thousand 317 Shramik Special trains have been operationalized since 1st May from various states across the country for the movement of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places.
Railway Ministry said, proper screening of passengers is ensured before boarding the train. During the journey, passengers are given free meals and water.
The Railway is currently operating 15 pairs of special trains since 12th May on Rajdhani routes, in addition to the Shramik Special trains. It will also operate 100 pairs of special mail and express trains from June 1.
