Nishino-shima volcano Erupts

During the past few weeks the activity of the volcano continues at high levels associated with continuous vulcanian-type explosions from the summit crater.
Today at 03:00 local time strong eruptions were recorded by Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) that generated a dense dark ash plume, which reached approx. 12,467 ft (3,800 m) above the crater and drifted NE.
Incandescent material is being ejected above the crater and caused avalanches of material.
Lava flows on the northeast flank remain active.
Very high thermal anomaly was observed in satellite image.
