New Zealand mosque shooter gets country’s 1st life term jail without parole sentence.
A New Zealand court has sentenced mass shooter Brenton Tarrant,.
Brenton, who killed 51 Muslim worshipers at a mosque last year, to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the first such ruling ever handed down in the country.
He admitted to 51 charges of murder, 40 counts of attempted murder and one charge of committing a terrorist act.
While handing down the sentence, Justice Cameron Mander said there was no minimum period of imprisonment to sufficiently denounce this crime.
“Your crimes are so wicked that even if you are detained until you die, it would not exhaust the requirements of punishment and denunciation.”
