Join Food Tank as Danielle Nierenberg Receives the 2020 Julia Child Award!
I am truly beyond excited that next week Danielle Nierenberg, my co-founder at Food Tank, will be named the 2020 Julia Child Award recipient!
I’ve known Dani for twenty years and I’ve personally watched her interview thousands of farmers and conduct project visits in more than 40 countries including 26 in sub-Saharan Africa alone. She is tenacious — works seven days a week, deep into the night — because she cares so deeply about all of us. About what we eat and how that foods get to our plate.
Congratulations Dani. I truly believe Julia Child would be as proud of you as we are at Food Tank.
Please join me in raising a glass to Dani during the virtual Smithsonian Food History Gala from Home (FREE) on October 15-17. Popping in will be past recipients Jacques Pépin, Rick Bayless, Danny Meyer, Mary Sue Milliken, Susan Feniger, and José Andrés. Register here: http://s.si.edu/SmithsonianFood
Also, as part of Food History Weekend, October 15–17, we are partnering with the Smithsonian, the Julia Child Foundation, and the Food and Agriculture Organizations of the United Nations for an unforgettable 2020 World Food Day event on October 16 featuring incredible speakers including Chef Jose Andres, Leah Penniman (Soul Fire Farm), Laura Reiley (The Washington Post), Vimlendra Sharan (UN FAO), and Danielle Nierenberg. Register here: http://s.si.edu/SmithsonianFood.
Finally for those who are willing — grab an apron! We will also have “Cooking Up History” demos on Oct. 16 feature chefs Jocelyn Ramirez and Nico Albert, and integrative nutritionist, youth health activist, and dear friend of Food Tank’s Haile Thomas. Register here: http://s.si.edu/SmithsonianFood.
Looking forward to seeing you at one of these events next week (all free) and thanks so much for all you do to make the food system better.
All the very best,
Bernard Anthony Pollack
