Sweden Commutters Concern

There’s a renewed call for commuters in Stockholm to be flexible when taking public transport during peak rush hour. Concerns over crowded public transport as winter approaches with 17 out of the country’s 21 regions reporting overcrowding in collective traffic during rush hour, there’s real concern that the situation will deteriorate this winter as cyclists are forced to leave their bikes at home.

It feels very difficult to keep a safe social distance. It’s disturbing, for me it’s not an option to walk,”

one bus commuter in central Stockholm tells Radio Sweden during rush hour.

A spokesperson for SL says it’s running its full fleet of buses and metros and is urging the public in the Stockholm region to try and avoid public transport in rush hour and if not, to wait for less crowded carriages.
