Aung San Suu Kyi, her National League for Democracy proved her popularity in the Nov. 8 election.
Myanmar’s election commission announced on Friday that the ruling National League for Democracy, led by Aung San Suu Kyi, has won a majority in parliament.
The election commission confirmed that the NLD has won at least 346 seats, taking more than 80% of the seats decided so far.
According to the commission results, the country’s ethnic parties are not polling well. Nine ethnic parties have won at least a total of 41 seats. The military-affiliated Union Solidarity and Development Party was struggling, garnering 25 seats so far.
The election commission is still counting ballots.
