Today is Dhanteras it marks the first day of Diwali. It is celebrated on the 13th day of the Krishna Paksha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted people on the auspicious occasion. In a tweet, Mr Modi hoped that Lord Dhanvantari will bring happiness, prosperity, good luck and good health in everyone’s life.

In Uttar Pradesh, Preparations for a grand ‘deepotsav’ are underway in Ayodhya. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take part in the Deepotsav this evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to participate in the event virtually. Doordarshan will broadcast live of the Deepotsava from Ayodhya. 

Prime Minister had said that today when we are going vocal for local, the whole world are also becoming a fan of our local products and many of our local products have the potential of becoming global.

The call to buy local products forms the base of the government’s vision for a Atmanirbhar Bharat to help the economy recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

In the National Capital, people visited in different markets in the city to purchase metal items and sweets. Ministry of Minority Affairs has also organised Hunar Haat  at Delhi Haat,  Pitampura with the theme of Vocal for Local which will  continue till 22nd of this month where  indigenous exquisite products made from clay, metal, wooden and  jute products are  the major attraction.

In view of Covid-19, Government has repeatedly appealed people to follow Covid appropriate behavior like wearing of mask, maintaining social distance and washing hands with soap or sanitizer.
