Bihar CM allocates portfolios among cabinet members, retains Home and General Administration

Bihar, Ministerial portfolios have been allocated. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has retained the Department of Home, Vigilance and General Administration Department (GAD). BJP has retained key portfolios like Finance, Health, Agriculture, Revenue and Land Reforms.

The JD(U) will hold Rural Development, Education, Parliamentary Affairs, Water Resources, Energy, Prohibition, Excise and Registration & Planning and Development.  Deputy Chief Minister Tar Kishore Prasad will hold the Finance, Commerce and Disaster Management Department. He will also hold three important portfolios like Urban Development and Housing Department (UDD and Housing), Information and Technology, Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (DEFCC).

Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Renu Devi has got Industry, Panchayati Raj and BC and EBC Welfare Department ( Backward Caste and Extremely Backward Caste Welfare).  Senior JD(U) leader Vijay Kumar Choudhary who was Speaker of 16th Bihar Assembly will be Rural Development Minister. Mr Choudhary will also hold charge of FOUR other portfolios like Rural Works Department, Parliamentary Affairs, Water Resource and IPRD (Information and Public Relations). Another Senior JD(U) minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav has got his previous portfolio of Energy Department. In addition, Mr Yadav will hold portfolios of Prohibition, Excise and Registration , Planning and Development and Food and Consumer Protection department.

The FIRST time minister in Nitish Kumar led cabinet, Mewalal Choudhary will be new Education Minister of Bihar. He is former Vice Chancellor (VC) of  Sabour Agriculture University, Bhagalpur. The Vikas Sheel Insaan Party (VIP) Chief Mukesh Sahani has been allocated to the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department.

Minister from Hindustani Awam Morcha quota and son of former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi Mr Santosh Kumar Suman will hold the department of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC and ST ) Welfare with the additional charge of Minor Water Resources Department. Senior BJP leader Mangal Pandey has retained the Health Department with additional charge of Road Construction Department.  BJP leader Amrendra Pratap Singh will be the next Agriculture Minister of Bihar. The officiating state president of JD(U) Ashok Choudhary will hold Four departments including Minorities Welfare and Building construction.

First time minister Jivesh Kumar Mishra will be Labour Resources minister of the state. JD(U) leader Sheela Kumari, the second female face in the  Nitish Cabinet will be Transport Minister.

In Bihar, 14 cabinet ministers were inducted in the Nitish Kumar led cabinet yesterday.

Official correspondent reports, in the allotment of portfolios of departments this time BJP and JD (U) has followed more or less same formula like previous government. Senior JD (U) leader Vijay Kumar Choudhary who was the Speaker of 16th Bihar Assembly will be Rural Development Department Minister along with FOUR other departments. Another Senior JD(U) minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav has succeeded to retain his previous portfolio of Energy Department.

Mukesh Sahni, who is the chief of Vikas Sheel Insan party (VIP) will be the Animal and Fisheries resources minister. The Hindustani Awam Morcha leader and son of former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi Mr Santosh Kumar Suman will hold department of SC and ST Welfare. Senior BJP leader Mangal Pandey has retained the Health Department and the former Deputy Speaker of Bihar Assembly Amrendra Pratap Singh will be agriculture Minister. In the State cabinet out of 14 members 8 new faces have been inducted.
