An earthquake has struck northeastern Japan.
The Japan Meteorological Agency says the magnitude 5.5 quake occurred off Iwate Prefecture at 4:19 p.m. local time on Saturday.
Quake had an intensity of 5 minus on the Japanese scale of 0 to 7 in the hardest-hit areas in Aomori prefecture.
The agency says there is no tsunami threat.
