Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, polling for the 7th phase of the District Development Council concluded peacefully. By One PM Overall, of 47.43 %per cent votes had been cast in the Union Territory. Impressive turn out of voters was seen in Jammu Division where 59.90% electorate had exercised their franchise by 1 P.M. In Kashmir 32.41%polling was recorded upto 01:00 pm.
In Kashmir Valley Bandipora district recorded 58.78% followed by Baramulla at 49.50% and Kupwara with 42.19% while in Jammu division Poonch district recorded 69.92 % polling followed by Samba district with 64.90% and Rajouri district with 61.38%.
Voting took place in 31 DDC constituencies in this phase. Of this 13 were in Kashmir valley and 18 in Jammu division. A total of 6,87,115 voters were eligible to cast their votes to decide the fate of 298 candidates including 72 female candidates.
Jammu and Kashmir, polling is now on for the 7th phase of District Development Council elections. In this phase, 31 DDC constituencies are electing their representatives. Of these, 13 are in Kashmir Valley and 18 in Jammu division.
Official correspondent reports that, amid severe cold and elaborate security arrangements, the polling began at seven in the morning and will conclude at 2 in the afternoon.148 candidates are in fray for 13 constituencies of Kashmir Valley and 150 for 18 in Jammu division.
Nearly seven lakh voters are going to decide the political fate of these candidates. In all 1852 polling booths have been set up in both divisions for today’s polling. In earlier 6 phases, over 50% polling was recorded in 221 DDC constituencies. The polling for the remaining 28 constituencies will be held on December 19 in the last phase and counting will take place on 22nd of December.
