Polling places in Bangui and certain provincial cities counting votes.

Residents in the capital Bangui turned out in large numbers and voted peacefully Sunday, many others could not because of the activities of rebels who control two thirds of the country.

Three UN peacekeepers were killed north of Bangui, on Friday, the capital of Central African Republic just 3 days ahead of President Election.

A successful Presidential & Legislative election in CentralAfricanRepublic is one big success – the greatest challenge is governing the #Country beyond #Bangui. A task the winner MUST begin to plan for – not ruling dialogue with the #CPC rebels out of the equation.

A rebel coalition that has been fighting the government in Central African Republic said Friday it was calling off a three-day ceasefire ahead of a tense general election at the weekend
