Finland – Iceland Talk EU-UK & Covid

Minister @TyttiTup and Minister for European Affairs of Ireland @ThomasByrneTD discussed about the new EU-UK relationship and the EU actions to fight the Covid-19. The colleagues continue discussions already on next Tuesday in the EU’s General Affairs Council.

FM @Haavisto in St. Petersburg today for meeting with FM Lavrov. On the agenda: EU-Russia, Alexei Navalny, intl. issues including arms control, Ukraine and Belarus, regional cooperation, bilateral relations. The minister will also meet with civil society.

FM @Haavisto in St Petersburg: Frank and open discussion with FM Lavrov. I reiterated EU’s call for the release of Alexei Navalny and full investigation into his poisoning. I also raised the mistreatment of peaceful protesters.

Finland is a candidate for the UN Human Rights Council for 2022–2024.

Regional and local authorities (hospital districts and municipalities or joint municipal authorities) decide on introducing or lifting measures according to the epidemiological situation. In addition, the regional state administrative agencies may make certain decisions.

The action plan for implementing the Government’s hybrid strategy divides the COVID-19 epidemic into three phases and includes three tiers of prevention measures.
