Hectic political activities are underway in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Union Territory of Puducherry ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Campaigning is gaining momentum in the four states and the Union Territory. In Assam, Senior BJP leaders and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah addressed several rallies today. Addressing a rally at Gohpur, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the development works of Modi government has improved the living conditions of the common people. Addressing a poll rally at Margherita, Home minister Amit Shah said that the flood problem of Assam will be solved if BJP is voted to power again. He said, BJP is continuously working for overall development of Assam and its people.
Chief Minister of Chattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel at Dibrugarh and AICC General Secretary in- charge of Assam, Jitendra Singh Alwar at Guwahati, simultaneously released the Charge- sheet against the BJP government in Assam. The party alleged that the BJP government has failed to protect the community, land and base for the people of Assam.
The Congress also said that BJP government has failed to provide job to unemployed youths. Other parties including AIUDF, Asom Gana Parishad, BPF, Assam Jatiya Parishad, Raijor Dal and Left parties also held election rallies in the state. 47 Assembly Constituencies in Assam, will go to polls on 27th of this month during the first phase while voting on 39 Assembly seats in the State will be held on 1st of April in the second phase.
In West Bengal, Senior leaders and star campaigners of BJP held a series of public meetings and road shows today in the districts going to polls in the first phase. Candidates of the Left parties and Trinamool Congress also held rallies. TMC Chief and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee participated in a party programme at Kolkata. Polling will be held in 30 Assembly seats of West Bengal in the first phase on 27th of this month while 30 Assembly Constituencies of state will go to polls on 1st of April in the Second Phase.
