Chip shortage impacts Ford Stellantis, Nissan, Nio automakers impacting global automakers.

The fire on Friday at the Naka plant could have “a very large impact” on its ability to supply chips to automakers, which are already grappling with a global chip shortage.

Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and other Japanese automakers scrambled on Monday to assess the production impact of a fire at a Renesas Electronics automotive chip plant that could aggravate a global semiconductor shortage.

Volkswagen’s North America CEO Scott Keogh tells @bbcaaron the car industry’s computer chipshortage could last another six months and lead to production cuts.
