Election flying squad seized gold coins and cash from Thirunallar in Karaikal district of the union territory of Puducherry. According to police, on a complaint that gold coins and cash is being distributed to voters to lure them to vote for a particular party, flying squad conducted a sudden raid. A few people standing in Thirunallar on seeing the flying squad fled the scene on their vehicles and the squad found 149 gold coins and Rs.96,000 from the place they were standing.
They handed over the seizure to the Thirunallar police station. Police registered a case and investigated
Mr. Durgaprasad Bommadi, an independent candidate contesting the April 6 assembly election, in the Yanam constituency of the Union Territory of Puducherry was reported missing. According to reports reaching the headquarters here, his wife lodged a complaint with the Yanam police station that Mr. Bommadi was missing from April 1. Police registered a case and started investigation.
It may be noted that Mr. Malladi Kirshna Rao, former health minister who won the seat for five terms in a row resigned from the congress and supported the N R Congress after announcing that he will not contest any more in elections. Due to his effort N R Congress president N Rangasamy is contesting from Yanam constituency this time.
