Delhi Lockdown extended for week

Making the announcement, Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal said, “Corona still continues to wreak havoc. Public opinion is also that lockdown should increase. So the lockdown is being extended for one week”.

Lockdown in Delhi extended by a week amid COVID-19 spike.We had imposed a 6-day lockdown in Delhi. The lockdown is being extended to next Monday till 5 am: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The lockdown imposed on April 19 night will now continue till 5 AM on May 3, he said.

”We will have to watch the situation for a few more days, whether the cases decrease or increase,” he said

The national capital has recorded the highest single-day toll with 24,103 cases of coronavirus for the city since the outbreak of the pandemic. 

During the lockdown, people engaged in essential services and facing emergency conditions will be allowed for movement on producing the valid documents. Earlier, a six days lockdown was imposed in the city to contain the spread of Covid-19 cases.
Expressing concern over the rising cases of corona virus in the City, Mr. Kejriwal said, health facilities are witnessing shortage of oxygen. He said, Delhi currently needs 700 tonnes per day and Union Government has increased the quota of oxygen to 480 tonnes per day. He thanked the Central government for providing necessary help in this crisis situation.
