Seventh phase of West Bengal assembly elections sees over 75 percent voter turnout
Over 75 percent voter turnout was recorded till 5 PM in the seventh phase of West Bengal assembly elections. The polling remained peaceful in all 34 assembly constituencies. Live monitoring and webcasting of more than 50 percent of Polling Stations including critical and vulnerable polling booths were done to ensure a safe and secure atmosphere in the polling areas. The Election Commission said the voters set an example of Covid appropriate behaviour in the polling areas by following due protocols of sanitization and social distancing in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the high-profile election campaign for the Eighth and Final Phase of the Assembly Elections concluded last evening.
Thirty five Assembly Constituencies spread over four districts will go to polls in the Eighth and Final Phase on 29th of April. The counting of votes will be taken up together on 2nd of May.
