Future of EU

Ministers for European Affairs to discuss future of Europe with young people

Government Communications Department.

Sagarmediainc: 03.12.2020

The German Presidency of the Council of the European Union will convene informal videoconference of Ministers for EU Affairs on 1 December. The Ministers will discuss the future of the EU and efforts to strengthen EU coordination in the fight against COVID-19. Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Tytti Tuppurainen will represent Finland at the meeting.

The first working session of the meeting will focus on the future of the EU. The session will begin with a short progress report from the German Presidency on the preparations for Conference on the Future of Europe. After this, the ministers will have a discussion with a group of young Europeans on what Europe should look like in 10–15 years’ time.

In Finland’s view, the conference should aim for wide-ranging inclusion and consultation of citizens, especially young people. The conference should focus on the issues that are most important to citizens, such as the rule of law, climate change, comprehensive security and the EU’s role on the international stage. The aim is to hold the conference as soon as possible, taking into account the development of the COVID-19 pandemic. The outcomes of the conference will be reported to the European Council in 2022.

In their second working session, the ministers will discuss intensifying EU coordination in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts to mitigate its economic and social impact. The aim is to exchange views on good practices at the EU level and at EU Member States’ borders. The ministers will also discuss areas where coordination and cooperation could be further improved. Finland supports the EU’s strong joint efforts to tackle COVID-19. To overcome the virus, we must promote a common, effective EU strategy.

Due to COVID-19, the videoconference on 1 December will replace the informal meeting of Ministers for European Affairs that the German Presidency had planned to hold on 31 November–1 December in Wiesbaden. At informal ministerial meetings, the ministers hold open discussions on issues of a general nature. The informal meetings are not Council meetings, and the ministers do not make formal decisions.

Representatives of the Western Balkan countries have also been invited to the informal video meeting.

VHP:Love-Jihad Law

Minorities & film fraternity too unescaped, nationwide Love-Jihad law needed : Dr. Surendra Jain

One should understand the painful stories of sisters like Parsi Kamalrukh.

New Delhi, December 03, 2020– After late musician Wajid Khan’s Parsi wife Kamalrukh made public the ill effects of marrying a Muslim, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) once again made its demand for a nation-wide law against “Love-Jihad” for the protection of country’s daughters and their self-esteem, grace and dignity. The Central Joint General Secretary of VHP Dr. Surendra Jain said today that the real minorities of the country are also no longer secure from the claws of the Love Jihadists.

He said that Kamalrukh, the Zoroastrian wife of the late musician Wajid Khan, has revealed and exposed the ill effects of marrying a Muslim, which is enough to upset and hurt anyone. Firstly she had to face the brunt of separation due to being pressurised by the Muslim husband after marriage to convert to Islam and now, as she struggles for the rights of her helpless children, people of Wajid’s families are forcing to convert to Islam.

So far no Muslim leader or actor/artist has come forward to help ensure justice for Kamalrukh. It has become clear that, for those people, be it from the film world or the outside world, be it the artistes or the so-called intelligentzia, the businessmen or the unemployed, there is no ‘Love’ but only the agenda of ‘Jihad’ behind such marriages or friendships! This fact was also asked by a court of law, as to why in such so-called marriages only the girl is forced to convert?

The VHP joint general secretary also said that it should be kept in mind that the Parsi community is the smallest minority fraternity in Bharat (India). The Jihadists have the same mindset towards the Parsi girls as they have towards the girls from other communities. Hundreds of instances and cases of Christian, Sikh, Dalit, Jain, etc., girls being victimised come every month. Due to their vested interests, many leaders of some communities sometimes raise slogans like “Mim – Bhim”. But when the girls from their own communities fall prey to these Jihadists, they, instead of fighting for ensuring justice for these victimised girls, duck out or get out of the jihadi dare. This makes it clear that their vested interests are more important to these leaders. They misuse their communities for their vested interests only. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar had also warned the society many times against such leaders and Jihadis. The VHP appeals to all communities to avoid such selfish leaders and not be caught in the clutches of jihadis.

The VHP salutes and compliments the Uttar Pradesh government for its initiative in enacting a law to protect Uttar Pradesh from these jihadis. With appeal for ensuring justice to Kamalrukh, we also request all the state governments, including Maharashtra, to come out of their prejudices and enact laws at the earliest to prevent love jihad and illegal religious conversions for the protection of the state and the people. No one can say how long a non-Muslim society can maintain its composure and patience!

US Visa Curbs China-CP Member

US imposes visa curbs on members of Chinese Communist Party

President Donald Trump’s administration has issued new rules to restrict travel to the United States by members of China’s ruling Communist Party (CCP) and their families. According to a State Department spokesman, the new policy, which took immediate effect, limits the maximum duration of travel visas for party members and their families to one month from 10 years.

Previously, party members, like other Chinese citizens, could obtain visitor visas for the US that were valid for up to 10 years. Travel visas for party members will also be limited to a single entry rather than multiple entries as was possible before.

The spokesperson said, this is in keeping with our ongoing policy, regulatory, and law-enforcement action across the US Government to protect our nation from the CCP’s malign influence. Under the US Immigration and Nationality Act, the Department of State has the authority to limit visa validity of groups of individuals hostile to US values, the spokesperson added.

FMsays China on Friday urged the US to stop abusing national power and stop over-stretching the concept of national security to suppress foreign companies after the US government added four Chinese firms to a blacklist of alleged Chinese military companies

Rohingya refugees at St Martin Island

Bangladesh Navy has built shelters on the controversial island for at least 100,000 Rohingya refugees at st. Martin Island, Bangladesh

Thousands of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are being relocated to a controversial island facility in the Bay of Bengal this week.

Police escorted the refugees in 11 buses from Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar for the journey to Chittagong port and then on to Bhasan Char – a flood-prone island that emerged from the sea 20 years ago.

“Bangladesh should halt this hasty relocation process,” said Ismail Wolff, regional director of Fortify Rights.

Some 1,600 Rohingya refugees are now being shipped from the Bangladesh port of Chittagong to the remote and flood-prone island of Bhasan Char, a Bangladeshi naval official told the media.

Saffron Inches Hyderabad Civic

Telangana Rashtra Samiti admitted the results were not on expected lines, but its Working President K T Rama Rao said there was nothing to feel disappointed about it. He thanked the people for making TRS the single largest party.

Backed by a high-octane campaign involving its top guns, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday made significant electoral inroads in Hyderabad in the fiercely contested GHMC polls, almost giving a scare to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti, which just managed to retain control of the civic body it won four years ago.

BJP’s resurgent performance prompted the state leadership to describe it as a ‘saffron strike’, while party in-charge Bhupendar Yadav said it has now emerged as the ‘only alternative’ to the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led regional dispensation with people accepting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s brand of good governance.

Out of the 150 wards in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) that went to the polls on December 1, the results of 146 wards were available till reports last came, where TRS won 56, while the BJP bagged 46, followed by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (42) and the Congress, which has so far managed to win two seats.

BJP had deployed top leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party president J P Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to seek votes for the party candidates.

The BJP’s performance has confirmed the trend that it is replacing the Congress as the main challenger to the TRS, Yadav said in Delhi.

The saffron party had won four seats in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls as well.

“The results are very encouraging and a morale booster for the BJP, and in a way, it is a moral victory of the party. The results reaffirms that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and his model of good governance have acceptability across regions,” Yadav, who was deputed as in-charge for the local elections in Hyderabad, told PTI.

The GHMC elections would be an unpleasant experience for the ruling TRS as it had swept the last city polls in 2016, winning 99 out of the 150 wards.

The TRS now has to deal with a resurgent BJP, which improved its strength substantially.

Rama Rao, son of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, said the party’s performance will be discussed in internal forum.

He said TRS lost several wards by extremely low margins.

“However, there is nothing to feel disappointed about,” he added.

UP Arrest On Anti-Conversion

Muslim man and a Hindu woman, whose wedding was stopped by the Uttar Pradesh police on the basis of new ordinance against “unlawful” conversion, said they had arranged the ceremony on December 2 unaware of the legislation,Will seek magistrate’s nod, says groom.

The law provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years and a maximum fine of Rs 50,000 under different categories.

Uttar Pradesh Police has made its first arrest under the new anti-conversion law, days after a man complained that someone is harassing his daughter in a bid to change her religion, officials said on Thursday.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on November 28 had given assent to the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020, against forcible or fraudulent religious conversions.
